Freight Operations

This page showcases the many different freight services that Philadelphia Southern RailRoad (PSRR).

Intermodel Service

This freight will be hauled in Intermodel Containers or Piggyback Trailer Service. This freight is express service, but only to limited location. Intermodel Service is the highest priority freight hauled by PSRR, and will always be ontime.

Our busiest port is located in Woodbourne Industrial Park(WID). This port is located in the town of Woodbourne, Pennsylvania; a peaceful town with Main Street running by all the businesses and Woodbourne Station.

Boxed Freight

This freight service will be seen in boxcars, well not actually seen(we hope). Boxcars are seen on almost every scheduled train, excluding unit trains and Intermodel trains. This freight isn't the highest priority freight service, but will be at it's destination as soon as possible.

Our boxcars are mainly unloaded and loaded at the main packaging facility in Woodbourne Industrial Park(WID). They are then transfered to Piggyback Trailers, then transported to the final destination, usually Woodbourne, PA.

Liquid Freight

This freight service is carried in Tank Cars. Tank cars can haul any liquid(or gas) including: fuels, syrups, etc. This freight can occasionally be seen on unit trains, but mainly on manifest, a.k.a. mixed freight.

Tank Cars are unloaded and loaded at the main fueling facility located in the front of Woodbourne Industrial Park(WID), just off of Main Street in Woodbourne, PA.

Wood/Steel Freight

This frieght is carried in Gondolas, Un-Covered Hoppers, Bulkead/Centerbeams, or Flatcars. These cars give the option to carry any sized cargo, from lumber and sheet metal to wooden and steel structues. This cargo will most likely end up on a manifest train, but if cargo is specialized it can be hauled seperately.

The unloading and loading facility has recently been relocated to the rear of the Woodbourne Industrial Park(WID). This new facility features ample storage capacity and easier access to and from Main Street.

Specialized Cargo

This cargo is tranported during lull in scheduled service, or occasionally put on the rear of a scheduled train. This cargo can also be hauled in a unit train, mostly hopper trains. This cargo can vary from piles of wood to airplane parts or even a locomotive.

The unloading and loading facility has recently been relocated to the rear of the Woodbourne Industrial Park(WID). After it has been unloaded it is moved to a lowboy trailer and through Woodbourne, PA down Main Street.
